Intel has shared two initiatives for the partnership at the Amazon Web Services re:Invent conference. The first is to enable Alexa capacity which controls and coordinates device actions remotely on an Intel-based Smart Home Hub; and the second is to accelerate hardware development of voice-enabled devices with the Alexa Voice Services and Intel platform.
To achieve the second initiative, Intel will work with Amazon to deliver smart speaker form factor reference designs (FFRD) with Alexa offering to the manufacturers.
Amazon said device makers will receive accelerated development of Alexa voice-enabled smart speakers on Intel architecture; Alexa voice commands skills; requisite speakers and microphone arrays, home radios that support standards for PAN connectivity at home, extensibility to add video capabilities and environmental sensors; and an SDK that enables developers to add voice and video capabilities to connected products.
After adding Alexa skills to Intel’s Smart Home Hub, it will be easier for Intel customers to implement voice control features on their devices.
