Quite unlike the other smart home related trade fairs around the world, SMAhome International Conference and Exhibition 2016, to be held during April 19-21 in Taipei, Taiwan, positions itself to meet the professional business requirements distinctively for home security and smart home supply chains.
SMAhome show is organized by SMAhome magazine publisher, Messe Frankfurt New Era Business Media since 2015. Being profoundly experienced in show organization, the company organizes Secutech Expo, a professional security exhibition since 1998, in concurrent with SMAhome show at the interlinked exhibition hall. By holding the two shows together, Ms. Regina Tsai, Deputy General Manager of the organizer said: “Home security is expected to remain one of the strongest sectors within the entire security industry in the next five to 10 years.”
Why it is so Unique
As there are many common and converging aspects between security and smart home, a big part of the original security equipment manufacturers at Secutech, such as intrusion alarm, IP camera and intercom makers, have since been working with international smart home brands or service providers. Given the nature of security markets – the project based business, these security manufacturers at Secutech such as Amroad, Competition, Unitech, Starvedia, GKB, Vision-Elec., Lilin, Vivotek, etc., are experienced with the technology supports and tailor-made services in the international markets. Visitors who source for manufacturing partnerships are able to find the solutions that cater to various needs of system integrators or service providers in your local markets.
In addition to security makers, SMAhome beckons an array of first-time exhibitors to the show, including professional manufacturers with backgrounds in computer, multimedia, networking, and software design, such as ASUS, Acer, TrendMicro, CAP-Tech, Dexatek, Home8, Nietzsche, and among several others. In line with Taiwan’s superior IT framework, Networks and IC industries, Taiwan manufacturers are known globally for their competitive edge in production efficiency and high quality. These newcomers at SMAhome show are specialized in the integration of lighting, window covering controls, thermostats, and various sensors, such as temperature, humidity, and gas detection. To accomplish the integration, the new intelligent smart home technologies such as cloud management, low-cost gateway and gateway management, and iOS and Android apps are used for controlling and monitoring smart devices.
Based on SMAhome's observation, Taiwanese smart home manufacturers are able to churn out state-of-the-art wireless devices and high-value-added solutions. “A majority of existing smart home products are based on wireless communication. For the majority of products, they need to be Wi-Fi-compatible. In terms of the consistency and stability of the Wi-Fi connection, Taiwan’s products are outstanding. Besides features, the syncing of Wi-Fi and other wireless communication standards inside the smart home products is a know-how that Taiwanese makers have been investing their efforts on,” commented Veronica Chen, editor-in-chief of SMAhome magazine.
To date, over 150 leading manufacturers from China, Korea and Taiwan have already signed up for SMAhome Expo. Tsai added: “We are anticipating over 26,000 system integrators, dealers, distributers and industry professionals to visit the fair. With the range and high quality of participating exhibitors on offer, I am confident visitors will not only discover a wealth of solutions and products but will also find ample opportunities to establish new and invaluable industry partnerships.”
The First Z-Wave Gallery Dedicated to Original Manufacturing
Z-Wave Alliance will organize its first gallery at SMAhome show. According to the alliance, they have selected around 10 members to demonstrate their new smart home launches at the event. “The participating companies are all with product design and manufacture management capabilities. If you are looking for quality and experienced Z-wave partners based in Taiwan and China, do come to this show and this gallery.”
Meanwhile, other well-known protocol standards such as ZigBee, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Homeplug should not to be overlooked, as several exhibitors have already booked their presence to launch their smart home-related products in Taipei.
M2M Platform is the Hype
In smart home, every type of business has different software needs. SMAhome understands this, and has designed the “Smart home M2M platform & software summit 2016” as one of the conference events. The speaker lineup is comprised of open source IoT projects specialists, connected device platform suppliers, smart home software stacks developers, cloud-based video solution providers as well as other application software designers.
By gathering more than 10 Taiwan and China-based platform designers to the event, system integrators and other types of international visitor will be able to source the IoT platform solutions that shorten time-to-market and effectively scale their engineering and management team. Ayla Networks, Tricloud, Obweb, Mivatek, Throughtek, Qlync, Raylios are some of the several host speakers at the event. They will present and discuss industry hot topics such as connectivity, interoperability, data protection and business models.
“We are ready to demonstrate the best of smart home manufacturing to international professionals,” Tsai said.
