Gunitech announced that in collaboration with Axalent, they are launching a smart home system based on CSRmesh connectivity, a product of Qualcomm Technologies International, Ltd., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated. The initial product kit includes a gateway, which uses QCA4531 Wi-Fi and CSR8811 Bluetooth chipsets, LED bulbs, smart plug and a 3-in-1 device integrating remote control, motion and light sensing. This product family utilizes Axalent’s IoT gateway technology and comprehensive IoT platform.
Enabled by the Axalent IoT gateway and cloud platform, Gunitech introduced CHEKKA, a new generation of CSRmesh-based smart home system that enables remote control, monitoring, alerts and smart interactions to bring more convenience into everyday living.
All devices are wirelessly connected and easily controlled and monitored via the CHEKKA app, running on smartphones or tablets, in local and remote modes. Gunitech offers an entry-level CHEKKA kit including the following products:
- Smart Plug that can be turned on and off via the mobile app or by pressing the button on the device.
- All-in-One Smart Sensor that functions as a PIR motion sensor, a light sensor, and a switch. This combo device features a patented, adjustable swiveling 180° wide detection angle motion sensing that can be programmed to trigger actions in other devices, such as a bulb, a lamp, or a plug, in the mesh network.
- Smart Bulb that features grouping, adjustable color, dimmer, timer, schedule, etc.
- Freedom Lamp that is a re-chargeable, portable bulb for on-the-go needs.
- Control Box that can be used as a wireless control unit for traditional devices such as lights, ceiling fans and other appliances.
Several of these products received the Computex d&i Awards between 2013-2016, the Taiwan Excellent Award in 2014, and the coveted Red Dot Award in 2016.
The Axalent Turnkey IoT Platform covers the entire range from device connectivity to cloud services to app SDK, supporting a variety of LAN protocols, with openness to connect with 3rd-party clouds and applications. It aims to help manufacturers quickly and reliably develop and launch into market Internet-connected products and services.
By collaborating with Arrayent, the market-proven leader of IoT cloud services since 2005 with brand customers around the world, the Axalent platform offers a worldwide cloud infrastructure that supports smart products and services deployments globally.
“Our goal is to simplify people’s lives through the using of Bluetooth mesh technology that allows for simple installation of smart devices locally via the smartphone, without the need of a gateway such as a ZigBee or Z-Wave system,” said Associate Vice President Ray Shiu. “However, to make the system more intelligent and complete, we needed to consider remote features when users are not local to the devices. We are glad to have collaborated with Axalent, whose IoT gateway and cloud platform is the key enabling technology for this part of CHEKKA,” added Mr. Shiu.
“We are very excited to collaborate with Gunitech on this set of innovative smart home products and to see it launch at Computex,” said John Yu, CEO of Axalent. “When we launched our CSRmesh-based IoT platform we envisioned that it would enable innovators to take advantage of the ease-of-use and ubiquity of the Bluetooth technology and the flexibility and extensibility of CSRmesh technology. This announcement is validation of that vision,” added Mr. Yu.
“We are excited to see the collaboration between Gunitech, one of our earliest CSRmesh technology adopters, and Axalent, our newest IoT gateway and platform adopter, come to fruition,” said Anthony Murray, senior vice president and general manager, IoT, Qualcomm Technologies International, Ltd. “The launch of Gunitech’s product is proof again that CSRmesh technology continues to gain traction as an IoT connectivity standard, building on our early success in lighting.”
Gunitech and Axalent demonstrated the CHEKKA and other IoT solutions at the Gunitech's booth during Computex 2016.
