Life360, a location and communication app for families, announced integration with IFTTT, a service that connects the APIs of a multitude of otherwise unconnected services to allow the creation of automated actions that can be fully customized. The new Life360 Channel on IFTTT allows users to set up “Recipes” and trigger actions based on the location of family members, as well as their own personal location.
For example, people can use Life360 Recipes to lock the doors and turn off the lights when the last member of the family has left the house. Families can set up lights to blink when each family member arrives home.
Leveraging Life360’s geo-fencing capabilities, a message can be sent to Google Glass when a family member leaves an area. The Life360 Channel also has Recipes that enable family members to pay closer attention to each other’s health and wellbeing, such as receiving an alert when each member of the family wakes up.
Life360’s integration with IFTTT is the company’s first official API integration. Life360 plans to soon make its API public.
