Smart lock maker August has introduced a new feature called “Auto-Connect” for some August Smart Lock models. With the new feature, August lock owners will be able to access their locks remotely with seamless control, the company claims.
Without the new feature, users who want to unlock the smart lock remotely or check the lock status via the mobile app are required to open the mobile app, tap the remote connect button, and wait for the smart lock to connect to the home Wi-Fi, before they can control the locks remotely.
With the Auto-Connect feature, August devices can automatically connect to Wi-Fi when the August mobile app’s lock screen is opened or when homeowners stand by the front door. As such, they won’t need to press the connect button anymore. Instead, they can simply open the lock screen of the app and issue actions such as unlock or lock the door.
The Auto-Connect feature is available for the third generation August Smart Lock and the August Smart Lock Pro.
To enable the new feature, homeowners need to have either an August Connect Wi-Fi Bridge or the August Doorbell Cam, which enable smart locks to connect with home Wi-Fi.
“No more waiting for a connection or wondering if you locked the door when you left the house – you can instantly confirm your door is locked from the August app,” says August Home in an official announcement.
