After has announced that the Arlo outdoor security light will be ready for shipping on May 25. The Arlo Security Light features a weather-resistant design, LED lights with a maximum brightness of 400 lumens, adjustable mount and motion sensors.
To protect the house, motion sensors will flash red or other customized color and pattern when detecting intruders. It can also be set up to turn on or off based on specific schedules, to simulate a situation where somebody is in the house.
The light also works with other Arlo security cameras. When motions are detected, devices will be triggered to start working. For instance, when the light detects motions and is on, the camera will also start recording; when the camera detects motions, the light will be triggered to turn on.
Most of the time, the light works under its energy-saving feature and conserve energy between days and nights. In other words, it doesn’t turn on when the surroundings are bright.
The light works with Amazon Alexa and IFTTT, which makes controlling the light via voice commands and other interactions with smart home gadgets possible.
The Arlo Security Light features a removable rechargeable batteries. Users can also buy a solar panel accessory aside for $79 to save the effort charging the battery. The company, however, didn’t specify the battery life of this device.
Another accessory for the light is a bridge, which helps extend the coverage of the light by 100 feet. The bridge is wireless and can be plugged into a wall outlet.
An Arlo light kit, which includes a light, mounting materials and the bridge, costs US$149.99. Lights kits to add on more lights will cost US$100 per extra light. Separately, the light itself costs US$129.99, and the bridge for US$59.99.
Arlo, best known for its security camera, announced early this year to leave Netgear and form as an independent company. The re-structure is still in progress.
