Elgato Systems, a video game accessories maker and the owner of smart home brand Eve, announced it is rebranding itself as Eve Systems, which will focus on providing HomeKit-centric smart home products.
The original name and the game accessory division will be sold to Corsair, a gaming hardware manufacturer.
Founded in 2002, Elgato has been making HomeKit accessories under the Eve name since 2016, becoming one of the most dedicated supporters of Apple’s smart home platform.
Products from Eve include the temperature and humidity sensor Eve Room, weather sensor Eve Degree, smart water controller Eve Aqua and smart plug Eve Energy.
Markus Fest, founder of Elgato Systems, will become the CEO of the new Eve Systems. The company is planning to unveil several new products at the upcoming IFA show in Berlin.
“Today, the Gaming space is more dynamic and exciting than ever. We sought a larger partner to help us capitalize on the phenomenal opportunities ahead,” says Fest, in a statement.
“The brand has been with us for almost twenty years and we are obviously a little sad to see it go, but Corsair is a fantastic company and will be a great new home for Elgato.”
“At the same time our Eve product line will benefit from a focused team and a dedicated organization. This move will further strengthen both product families,” adds Fest.
In addition to Eve’s HomeKit-compatible products, Elgato also owns some Mac accessories such as Thunderbolt Docks. The company didn’t mention about the future of the Thunderbolt products after the restructure.
