LG Electronics (LG), Google and Innit have announced a joint mart kitchen solution that provides hands-free voice control, step-by-step guided cooking and automated cook programs on smart ovens.
The solution, which utilizes LG’s smart ovens, Google Assistant and Innit’s connected food platform, was demonstrated at IFA 2018, showing how consumers can get assistance on their dinner. Users will have personalized meal suggestions, get access to helpful how-to videos hands-free and to cook new foods with fun.
The automated cooking programs are tailored to unique properties of each meal. Simply ask the Smart Display to start cooking, and Innit will send a multi-step adaptive cooking program to the appliances while monitoring thousands of data points, ensuring optimal results every time, Innit says.
The results are timed to make sure all parts of the meal are ready at the same time. Users can just leave the kitchen because the meals will cook on their own, according to the company.
LG’s Smart Display is an AI-enabled smart speaker with an 8-inch display for a richer interactive experience, suited for the kitchen counter, allowing consumers to hear and see the help they need for a variety of tasks. Innit is featured as a smart kitchen platform, enabling guided cooking with step-by-step videos, as well as automated orchestration of connected appliances.
The smart kitchen solution utilizes Signature Kitchen Suite ovens provided by LG. The appliances work with LG’s SmartThinQ. “Signature Kitchen Suite helps home chefs achieve amazing results by staying true to food,” the company says.
The joint demonstration between Signature Kitchen Suite, Google and Innit is displayed at IFA 2018 in a dedicated outdoor exhibit in Sommergarten, Berlin Messe. Innit will launch the smart kitchen solution to consumers in the fourth quarter of 2018.
In the past, consumers may have to open up six or seven apps to get the help they need cooking, including nutrition information, recipes, shopping lists, how-to videos, and remote control apps for various devices. “With LG, Google and Innit working together, consumers can enjoy a single elegant journey that gives them the confidence and assistance to create incredible meals every day,” said Kevin Brown, CEO and co-founder of Innit.
