Security device maker First Alert has introduced its second-generation entry-level smoke and carbon monoxide alarm that feature HomeKit and Amazon Alexa support.
The Onelink Smart Smoke + Carbon Monoxide Alarm has wired and battery-powered versions. It is an upgrade from the original First Alert HomeKit-enabled smoke alarm. With both HomeKit and Alexa support, homeowners can create smart home scenes that include the detected smoke event. For example, when the alarm is triggered, the smart lights will be turned on while the smart lock at the front door will be unlocked. This creates an immediate evacuation route in an emergency.
In addition, the company has included voice alert and location technology, which tells homeowners what triggered the alarm and where the alarm was triggered. Notifications will also be sent via the Onelink Home mobile app.
“As it is fully compatible with the Onelink Safe & Sound alarm, which includes a premium speaker and built-in virtual assistant, it allows consumers to outfit their entire homes with the appropriate level of smart protection and functionality desired for each space,” said Tarsila Wey, director of marketing at First Alert, in a statement.
First Alert’s high-end smart smoke and carbon monoxide alarm, Safe & Sound, features more advanced features with Amazon Alexa built-in. It provides both security protection and voice control entertainment in modern homes.
Since Onelink products work together, homeowners may place a premium Alexa-powered Safe & Sound in the center and have entry-level models as the assistant. Together the devices can cover the entire home.
The new Onelink Smart Smoke + Carbon Monoxide Alarm will be available at US$119.99 before Christmas.
