The Kwikset Kevo, developed by UniKey, is currently one of the more popular smart locks. It allows users to send permanent or temporary ekeys to authorize other people to open doors, although using will have to purchase additional ekeys via in-app purchases once the two free ones are used. Kevo detects ekeys through Bluetooth. Users do not receive notifications each time the door is unlocked, but can lookup complete access history through the companion smartphone app.
Kevo seems to be unique among the smart locks, in that it does not emphasize the ability to control or monitor one’s home from afar. Rather, Kevo seems to be a product that uses modern technology to greatly improve user experience over traditional locks: SmartKey technology eliminates re-keying pains, touch-to-open removes the need to fumble for keys, and it looks both inconspicuous and beautiful.
